The Investigative Committee said Wednesday that it has opened three fraud cases in connection with weekend elections for the Rostov-on-Don city legislature.
A combined 620 ballots marked with a single candidate’s name, supposedly to be stuffed to ballot boxes, were found at three polling stations at places restricted only to election officials, a committee spokesman said, without identifying the candidate or the suspects, Interfax reported.
Election fraud is punishable with up to four years in prison.
The ruling United Russia party won 34 out of the 35 seats in the local legislature in Sunday’s vote, the party said on its web site Wednesday.
