Polish Cross Removed

WARSAW — Polish officials quietly moved a makeshift memorial cross honoring the late President Lech Kaczynski to the presidential palace chapel on Thursday, in an attempt to end a lengthy dispute that divided the nation.

The cross was set up shortly after Kaczynski was killed in a plane crash in Smolensk in April. Relatives of the dead had proposed moving the cross to the Smolensk crash site.
