Ax Thrower Hospitalized

An Omsk court ordered an elderly woman placed in a psychiatric hospital for throwing an ax at a prosecutor who refused to process her unspecified complaint, Interfax reported Thursday.

Mental health experts told the court that Tatyana Mariupolskaya, 73, suffered from a delusional disorder that renders her unable to analyze her own actions.

The ax-throwing incident occurred April 27 in the Omsk prosecutor’s office. The woman showed up with the ax, and prosecutor sustained a minor injury after managing to shield himself with his hand.
