Raspadskaya said Wednesday that sales would slump by two-thirds for the next three or four months after explosions ripped through its biggest mine, killing at least 90 people.
Sales of coking coal concentrate will tumble to 255,000 metric tons in June from a monthly average of 760,000 tons so far this year, the company said in a statement. Output of semihard coking coal, the most valuable for steelmaking, will drop 63 percent to 350,000 tons a month, the producer said.
The company declared force majeure on its supply contracts after a fatal blast wrecked its largest mine this month.
