The ruling was handed down Friday in a lawsuit filed by a Zhirinovsky opponent in the Dec. 12 elections, Oleg Novikov, who ran on the ticket of the reformist party Russia's Choice.
Zhirinovsky, who was given 10 days to appeal, did so on Monday, the news agency said. It had no further details. Novikov has accused the election commission in Shchelkovo, east of Moscow, where Zhirinovksy won, of violating election procedures by failing to remove from the ballot the name of a candidate who had pulled out of the race in his favor.
