Itar-Tass, Interfax and RIA on Sunday quoted the head of Chechnya's Council of Elders as saying Ovlur Dudayev had died of wounds received last week in Grozny.
The agencies said Said-Akhmed Adizov had announced Ovlur Dudayev's death in Nazran, capital of Ingushetia, bordering Chechnya.
"Dzhokhar Dudayev's son has died of wounds received in the defense of Grozny and was buried" Friday, RIA news agency quoted Adizov as saying.
