Yukos Backs Yabloko

MOSCOW -- The head of Russia's second largest oil company said he would support Grigory Yavlinsky at the upcoming parliamentary elections, Interfax reported.

Mikhail Khodorkovsky, head of Yukos, said he would support Yavlinsky's liberal Yabloko party in the December elections to the State Duma, Interfax said.

"If they need my help, I will help Yabloko to the extent of my empirical capabilities," he said in an interview with the Petroleum Information Agency, Interfax reported.

"The company would like to see centrist parties, such as Yavlinsky's, win a strong representation in the Duma," he said.

Recently, at the Worldwide Russian Press Congress in Sochi, Khodorkovsky announced that he sympathizes with Yabloko, Interfax reported.
