Voucher Hits High

The value of the privatization voucher reached a new record of 34,410 rubles ($19.82) Tuesday on the Russian Raw Materials and Commodities Exchange, topping its previous high of 31,390 that was set Monday.

Tuesday's trading volume of 4.04 billion rubles was much higher than the exchange's average daily turnover of about 1 billion rubles.

Exchange officials attributed the voucher's new activity to the privatization of several large enterprises, including United Energy Systems, Lukoil and Rostelekom, and to government officials' announcements that privatization will end as scheduled on July 1.
