Two Die at Concert

WARSAW () -- Two people died, including a 13-year-old girl and more than 300 were injured in a fire that broke out during a rock concert in the Baltic port of Gdansk, officials said Friday.

The fire started Thursday at the Gdansk Shipyard concert hall, where between 600 and 1,000 spectators had gathered for a rock concert and a live broadcast of the MTV European Music Awards ceremony from Berlin, according to Gdansk police. The fire started in the audience, where wooden benches easily carried the flames, and rapidly advanced to the hall's wooden roof. A part of the roof collapsed while many of the fans were still inside.

According to witnesses, some youngsters inside the hall spilled a highly flammable liquid, leading the police to suspect arson.
