ANKARA, Turkey () -- State minister Ayvaz Gokdemir has said Turkey would supply Azerbaijan with wheat to ease a food shortage, the Anatolia news agency reported.
The announcement came after a meeting Wednesday between Azerbaijan's President Heidar Aliyev and Turkish Prime Minister Tansu Ciller.
Aliyev asked Turkey on Tuesday to provide urgent food aid. He said Azerbaijan could get food only from Turkey since the railway to Russia was cut off due to disturbances in Chechnya.
