Threatened Writer Tours

PARIS () -- Taslima Nasrin, the Bangladeshi writer threatened with death by Moslem fundamentalists Wednesday, began a 10-day visit to France under exceptionally tight protection, including round-the-clock guard by the most elite police unit.


In all, more than 1,200 police officers have been assigned to help protect Nasrin on a tour that will take her from Paris to Strasbourg and Marseille and will include a prime-time television appearance and high-profile meetings with cultural and political figures.
