Tatar Deal With GM

MOSCOW () -- The government of Tatarstan announced Friday it will sign a deal with General Motors this month to produce cars jointly at a factory in Yelabuga, Interfax reported.


Tatarstan Prime Minister Mukhammat Sabirov said the cooperation project, worth between $1.2 billion and $2.5 billion, was approved by the Russian government in June.


According to Interfax, the partnership will first sell American cars through the Yelabuga factory, using the proceeds to organize car production at the plant.
