Tarpley Back in NBA

DALLAS, Texas (x) -- Roy Tarpley, banned from the U.S. National Basketball Association three years ago, was reinstated by the league, and the Dallas Mavericks said they would move to re-sign their former star.

On Oct. 16, 1991, Tarpley, a 7-foot (2.14-meter) forward-center drew what the NBA then termed a lifetime suspension -- subject to review after two years -- after he refused to take a drug test. It was Tarpley's third violation of the NBA's drug policy.
