Storm Kills Hundreds

HONG KONG () -- A typhoon has triggered landslides and flooding in China's eastern Zhejiang province, killing more than 450 people, a Chinese news agency reported Monday.


The China News Service in Hong Kong said Typhoon Fred also whipped up record tidal waves along the coastal city of Ruian when it slammed into the province on Sunday.


Typhoon Fred, which packed winds of 198 kilometers per hour at its height, had battered Taiwan on Saturday, leaving three people dead.
