Seve Wins in Playoff

MOTZEN, Germany (x) -- Seve Ballesteros charged from behind Sunday with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff at the $937,500 German Masters, completing a dramatic victory over Ernie Els and Jos? Maria Olazabal.

The Spaniard made up six strokes in the final round and won the playoff after his competitors settled for par. Olazabal's chance for a matching birdie ended as his 3.3-meter putt stopped at the cup's lip.

Els and Olazabal had mounted a duel throughout the final two rounds before Ballesteros caught them on the final hole of regulation with his 5-under 67 and 18-under 270. Four players -- England's Nick Faldo, Germany's Sven Str--ver, Ireland's Eamonn Darcy and Vijay Singh of the Fiji Islands -- finished three strokes back at 15-under 273.
