COVENTRY, England () -- A dramatic 10-foot birdie putt on the final green gave Colin Montgomerie his first victory on British soil when he won the English Open by one stroke Sunday.
Scotland's Montgomerie shot a final round 69 on the Forest of Arden course for a 14-under-par total of 274 to beat Englishman Barry Lane who had led by two strokes with two holes to play.
