Saleswoman Disarms Robber

A robbery attempt in a Voronezh food store ended in an emasculating fiasco for the criminal, who was cowed into giving up his knife by a sales clerk, city police reported on its web site Thursday.

The man, identified only as Stanislav, threatened a saleswoman with a knife to her back, demanding she give him the money from the cash register.

One of the clerk's colleagues, Lyudmila Leontyeva, confronted the attacker, telling him: "I kill on the second blow. I can't manage it on the first one, but I kill on the second. Give me that knife!"

The attacker — who has a criminal record ?€” did hand over the weapon at Leontyeva's demand and was soon detained by police. He told investigators that he simply lost his head during the unexpected confrontation.
