Two Russian schoolgirls have been hospitalized with severe burns after receiving electric shocks while trying to take a selfie on a train roof, a news report said.
The girls suffered burns on up to 70 percent of their bodies after climbing onto the roof of a freight train at the Martsevo station in western Russia, LifeNews reported Tuesday. It appeared as though the girls, who are both 16, had been trying to photograph themselves in the unusual location, the report added.
After the incident on Monday, the teenagers were taken to a nearby children's hospital, where they are being treated in the burn department. Doctors have assessed their condition as “serious,” LifeNews reported.
The news comes just days after a 19-year-old Russian man died after receiving an electric shock while joyriding on the roof of a train.
The teen's body was discovered as the electric commuter train pulled into the Severyanin station on the line from Fryazino to Moscow, the Interfax news agency reported Monday, citing transport police.
