Ruble Drops 25 Points

MOSCOW () -- The ailing ruble fell further in value in trading Thursday, dropping 25 points to 2,833 to the dollar despite $30 million spent by the Central Bank to intervene. Traders expressed surprise.

"To be honest, this drop was unexpected," said Stanislav Belov, a trader at Konversbank. "After the last two days, there should have been a slight increase in the ruble."
