Police Officer Shot Dead

A policeman was shot dead and another was wounded after they pulled over a car in western Moscow and one of the three men inside opened fire, investigators said Saturday.

The officers stopped a black BMW that had no license plate on Molotskaya Ulitsa at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Interfax reported. One of the three people inside the car produced a gun, shooting police officer Denis Klimovich dead and critically injuring officer Konstantin Bykov with shots to the head and stomach.

Investigators believe that the people in the car were from Dagestan and are looking for a 27-year-old Dagestani, Yakob Kartakayev, whose passport was found near the scene of the shooting, Interfax reported.
