Poland Visit on Agenda

MOSCOW () -- Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin is ready to go ahead with a visit to Poland that was postponed in November, but the timing of the trip has not been agreed, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tuesday.

The last-minute postponement was linked with the beating of a group of Russians at a Warsaw railway station. The incident dealt a blow to bilateral relations and held up the signing of a package of documents.

"All the conditions are there now for making the head of the Russian government's visit a success," Foreign Ministry spokesman Grigory Karasin told a news briefing.
