Plague Delays Tour

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados () -- A West Indies cricket tour of India, scheduled to start next week, has been postponed "by at least a week" because of the outbreak of peumonic plague there, the West Indies Cricket Board of Control announced Friday. The West Indies team was supposed to arrive in Bombay next Wednesday and play the first of six one-day internationals against India in Baroda, close to the plague-stricken city of Surat, on Oct. 12.

In a test match in Karachi, Pakistani pace duo Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis snapped up three late wickets as Australia slumped to 181 for five in the second innings at the close of the third day of the first test Friday, Reuters reported. Australia, which earlier bowled out the home side for a modest 256, was 262 ahead with two days left.
