Oil Dearth Shuts Plant

MOSCOW () -- A shortage of fuel oil shut down Europe's biggest cellulose plant Monday, forcing 8,000 workers in Karelia to go on indefinite unpaid leave and plunging an entire town into crisis, Itar-Tass reported.


The paper-making plant at Segezha, in the northwestern Russian region, was hit by a fall in output and had run out of heavy crude oil, Itar-Tass said.
