A worker at a Russian nuclear power plant was exposed to radiation, but his health was not in danger, an official reported Friday.
The incident occurred at the Kalinin nuclear power plant about 150 kilometers north of Moscow on Thursday as workers were carrying out a planned equipment check at one of the reactors, said Sergei Yermakov, a spokesman for the Russian nuclear energy consortium Rosenergoatom.
The check was being carried out without stopping a reactor, he told Itar-Tass.
The exposed worker got a "small dose, which is significantly lower than the maximum year limit," Yermakov said without elaboration.
The Kalinin plant, located near the town of Tver, has two pressurized water reactors, which differ from the Chernobyl-type graphite reactors.
