LAGOS, Nigeria-- The United States said Friday it had approved a Nigeria Airways flight to the United States to take the Nigerian contingent to the World Cup finals. There has been confusion in Nigeria over how to gets its team to the United States for their first World Cup appearance following conflicting reports on whether or not the Americans had lifted a year-long ban on flights from Lagos. The U.S. embassy said Friday the approval of the Nigeria Airways flight was a one-off exemption and that the suspension of flights from Lagos to the United States remained in effect.
