Duma Supports Zurabov



A State Duma committee approved the nomination of former Health and Social Development Minister Mikhail Zurabov as the new ambassador to Ukraine in a seven-to-one vote on Thursday, Interfax reported.

Kiev must now support the candidacy before President Dmitry Medvedev can sign the necessary decree, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told Interfax. (MT)




11-Year-Old Thief Caught



A Saratov court sentenced an 11-year-old boy to 20 days in a juvenile detention center for stealing a DVD player, toys and 1,700 rubles from a kindergarten, RIA-Novosti reported.

The boy snuck through the kindergarten's window in the village of Chapayevka on May 28, the report said.

Two days later, he again attempted to rob the kindergarten but was caught inside by a security guard.(MT)
