Muster Bites Dust

SYDNEY, Australia () -- Australian Jamie Morgan rode a powerful serve to upset No. 3 seed Thomas Muster of Austria 6-2, 6-4 in less than an hour Monday, opening day of the $650,000 New South Wales Open tennis championship.

Morgan, who last week was omitted from the Australian Davis Cup team to face South Africa in February and needed a wild card to get into the main draw, completely outplayed Muster, who is ranked 16th in the world.

Morgan served seven of his 10 aces and dropped only two points on serve as he raced through the first set in 23 minutes. He maintained the pressure in the second set, continually rushing the net to unsettle Muster.
