Mercenary Surrenders

MORONI, Comoros Islands () -- French mercenary Bob Denard and his two dozen soldiers of fortune surrendered Thursday to French special forces and policemen, one week after he launched his third coup in the Comoros Islands

In a driving rain, Denard was the first to walk out of the Comoros military headquarters and undergo a full body search by two French commandos wearing body armor and carrying submachine guns.

The commandos, one firmly holding Denard's right bicep, then escorted Africa's most notorious general-for-hire 75 meters to a waiting car. He climbed into the back seat, where he sat with a commando on each side.
