Matchless Els Wins

VIRGINIA WATER, England -- Even Ernie Els couldn't find much to rave about after winning his second straight World Match Play title over U.S. PGA champion Steve Elkington.

"At times it was a little low-key, both of us weren't on our games,'' Els said Sunday. "We were trying hard but we couldn't produce the shots we wanted, particularly on the greens.

Els won the 36-hole final 2 and 1 with a birdie on 17 to pick up the ?170,000 ($270,000), Europe's richest winning prize this season. The grueling event calls for 36 holes of match play over at least three days.
