Lithuania Placates Jews

JERUSALEM () -- Lithuania is drafting a law that would return property confiscated by the Nazi and Soviet regimes to their original Jewish owners, Lithuania's prime minister said Tuesday.

"We are trying to return ownership,'' Adolfas Slezevicius said during a visit to Yad Vashem, Israel's memorial to the Holocaust in which 6 million Jews were killed by the Nazis.

Slezevicius said he wanted to redress the ill will generated by the collaboration of some Lithuanians with the Nazis, who ruled Lithuania from 1941-45.
