Jewish Center Bombed

BUENOS AIRES (x) -- At least 16 people were killed in an explosion Monday that ripped through the Buenos Aires offices of Argentina's main Jewish organization, a local television station reported.

Police said the explosion leveled the building housing the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association, a charity, and the Delegation of Argentine Israeli Associations, a Jewish community group. The area where the building was located was once a Jewish neighborhood, but is now populated largely by Arabs and Koreans.

On June 1, Israel bombed pro-Iranian guerrilla barracks in Lebanon, killing 50 Lebanese, including teen-age Hezbollah recruits. The fundamentalist Shiite Moslem group vowed revenge, and Israeli experts said they expected reprisal attacks to be carried out abroad.
