TOKYO () -- Hardhitting outfielder Makoto Sasaki singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning as the Seibu Lions edged the Yomiuri Giants 6-5, tying the best-of-7 Japan baseball series at two games apiece.
Sasaki's decisive single came after singles by second baseman Hatsuhiko Tsuji and leftfielder Koji Otsuka with one out. The night game was attended by more than 31,000 spectators in Seibu Stadium in Tokyo's suburbs.
