Italy: More Heavy Rain

ROME () -- Civil protection officials alerted north and central Italy on Wednesday to forecasts of worsening weather as the country braced for more rain after floods which killed almost 60 people.


Rome's civil protection service issued the warning to regional officials after meteorologists predicted heavy rain and intense storms from northern Lombardy to central Tuscany later Wednesday and overnight. In the center and north of the country, flood waters from intense deluges over the weekend which killed 59 people were still sweeping down the Po river towards the Adriatic Sea.
