Irish Peace Meeting Set

DUBLIN () -- Irish Prime Minister Albert Reynolds, a key player in efforts to end 25 years of conflict in Northern Ireland, agreed Wednesday to meet members of a U.S. peace mission pressing for an indefinite IRA ceasefire.

Reynolds and his deputy, Dick Spring, will meet the Irish-American delegation in Dublin on Thursday. Government sources said they will ask ex-congressman Bruce Morrison and his fellow U.S. intermediaries to convey to the Irish Republican Army's political wing, Sinn Fein, their demands for "a definitive and permanent end to violence."

The IRA is strongly rumored to be considering an open-ended halt to its war against British rule in Northern Ireland to win concessions on a peace formula drawn up last year by Reynolds and his British counterpart, John Major
