Iranians Extradited

OSLO () -- Three Iranian men were extradited to Russia on Tuesday to face charges of hijacking an Aeroflot airliner to Norway in 1993.

Police inspector Staale Svendsen said an airliner with the suspects on board had left the Gardermoen airport near Oslo for Moscow, where the men were being turned over to Russian authorities. Norwegian news media said about 15 policemen were aboard.

The men had been held since their arrest at Gardermoen on Sept. 15, 1993, on charges of forcing the Russian domestic airliner to fly from southern Russia to Norway. All 51 people aboard were released unharmed after hours of negotiation.
