Iran Gets Oil Invitation

TEHRAN, Iran -- The head of Azerbaijan's state-owned oil company said here Wednesday he was looking for Iranian participation in oil projects in his country.

The Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Natik Aliyev, president of Socar, as saying Azerbaijan had invited Iranian Oil Ministry experts to take part in exploration and drilling projects at the Shah Deniz oil fields.

Iran, Azerbaijan's southern neighbor, has been bitter about exclusion from an 11-member international consortium which plans to invest $7.4 billion in oil production in resource-rich Azerbaijan.
