Prosecutors on Monday formally charged former senior Investigative Committee official Dmitry Dovgy with bribery and abuse of office.
Dovgy, former head of the committee's main investigative directorate, was charged with taking 750,000 euro ($1 million) from a businessman in exchange for closing an investigation, committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said.
Dovgy faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted.
