India Tourists Stranded

MOSCOW () -- More than 200 Russian tourists "on the verge of despair" are stranded in India following the recent outbreak of plague, Itar-Tass reported Tuesday.

Aeroflot is the only major airline not to have resumed flights to the Indian capital Delhi after the recent plague scare in India, the news agency said. It said that according to some sources the head doctor of the State Health Inspection Agency had authorized the resumption of flights, while other sources said Russian pilots were refusing to fly to India.

The 202 tourists are staying in hotels being looked after by their tour groups, but tour representative Oleg Teslenko said that "people's patience is at a limit."
