One of Blunkett's colleagues got them pointed in the right way. Blunkett has the last laugh, taking an opportunity to tweak the Conservatives for their poor showing in European assembly elections last week. "Having participated in Labour's resounding victory in the European campaign, Lucy obviously presumed we had won a general election and occupied the government benches," Blunkett said.
