IMF Loans to Moldova

WASHINGTON () -- The IMF has approved $32 million in loans for Moldova to help the former Russian republic reform its economy and pay for increased imports of wheat and other cereal crops.

The loans include $18 million from the IMF's Compensatory and Contingency Financing Facility, and a further $15 million under the country's already-established stand-by credit with the IMF. The former will be used to help defray the cost of increased cereal imports following a major crop failure.
