High Stakes in Siberia

LIVONIA, Michigan () -- Aluminum Co. of America is considering buying a minority equity stake in a giant Russian aluminum smelting plant in Siberia, Alcoa Chairman Paul O'Neill said.


Speaking at an automotive aluminum conference in Livonia, O'Neill said he planned to visit the plant, in Krasnoyarsk, later this month, making a final decision within a couple of months.


O'Neill said the investment could grow to as much as $500 million over the next 10 years.
