Grain Yield Stays Low

MOSCOW -- Government measures have failed to boost grain harvests in Russia's ailing agricultural sector, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zaveryukha said Friday. "The situation is not getting better, one can even say it is getting worse," he told a news conference. This year's grain harvest is expected to range between 90 and 95 million tons, down from 99 million tons last year, said agriculture specialists quoted by Itar-Tass news agency.
