DHAKA -- Police shot dead one Islamic militant and at least 150 people were injured in fighting between rival groups during a strike in Bangladesh on Thursday over an alleged insult to Islam by feminist writer Taslima Nasrin, police said.
Police opened fire as thousands of Islamic fundamentalists went on a rampage at Kishoreganj, northeast of Dhaka, and tried to snatch police rifles.
Kishoreganj police said about 10 people were injured, including six policemen, in fighting between security forces and fundamentalists
