EU to Free Textiles

BRUSSELS () -- The European Commission plans to liberalize some textile imports from six East European countries which have association agreements with the European Union, a Commission spokesman said Tuesday.


He said the Commission wanted to allow duty-free access to certain textile imports that were not subject to quota restrictions. The concessions concern so-called outward processing of textiles, involving EU semi-finished goods that are sent to East Europe for completion. and then imported into the EU..
