GEORGE, South Africa () -- Ernie Els of South Africa began the new year like he finished the old one, cruising to a five-stroke victory in the Bell's Cup golf tournament.
The 1994 U.S. Open champion, Els fired a final-round 70 Sunday for a 13-under-total of 275, five shots ahead of compatriot Hendrik Buhrmann and P.H. Horgan of the United States.
Els took home the winner's check of $26,630 in his first tournament of 1995, following his victory in last month's Johnnie Walker World Championship.
