Duma Says Judges Can Carry Guns

The lower chamber of the parliament, the State Duma, passed a bill Thursday granting judges the right to carry a weapon, Itar-Tass reported. The legislation also allows for judges, policemen, secret agents, prosecutors, jurors and their families to be provided with guards if they are under threat, the report said. The bill, which stipulates that each agency must provide funding for the guards, was sent to the Federal Council, the upper chamber of the parliament, for consideration.
