DAMASCUS, Syria -- Russian Defense Ministry chief of staff General Mikhail Kolisnikov has arrived in Damascus and has begun talks with Syrian armed forces leaders, officials said. They said the general discussed with Lieutenant General Hikmat Shehabi, Syrian armed forces chief of staff, "ways of promoting cooperation between the Syrian and Russian armies to serve the interests of the two friendly countries." The two recently signed a military cooperation accord paving the way for resumed arms supplies to Damascus.
