HAMBURG () -- The media giant Bertelsmann AG denied Thursday that it is in talks to buy Luxembourg-based broadcasting group CLT, but said it was interested in partial ownership.
Der Spiegel magazine said Bertelsmann, along with France's Havas SA media concern and pay-television company Canal Plus SA, was looking to buy a controlling interest in CLT from Belgium's Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA.
According to the magazine, Bertelsmann's supervisory board earmarked 1 billion Deutsche marks ($690 million) Dec. 1 for the purchase while its French partners each set aside 1 billion marks.
