Chinese Dissent Laws

BEIJING -- China has stepped up state security with the adoption of new laws to counter internal dissent and what it calls ceaseless espionage by foreign governments.


Under the regulations, published by the Legal Daily on Wednesday, foreign institutions, organizations and foreigners in China will be considered hostile if they finance, collude with or engage in subversive activities endangering state security, the newspaper said.


Diplomats said the regulations appeared to reflect concern about increasing missionary activities by foreigners, decreasing control over the flow of information thanks to new forms of tech
