Cheap Gas for Moldova

CHISINAU () -- Moldova has struck a deal with Russia's Gazprom company for cheaper natural gas supplies in 1995, Prime Minister Andrei Sangheli said.

He said in a nationally televised address Monday that Gazprom agreed to cut its prices by 27.5 percent to $58 per 1,000 cubic meters from $80 under this year's contract.

Household gas and electricity would also be 20 to 25 percent cheaper. Moldova depends on Russia for virtually all its fuel.
